This is a very attractive, solid pen with some weight to it. I measured 1.1 ounces on my postage scale. Most of the weight is in the cap, so removing that when writing makes a pretty good difference. I ordered the fine nib, which is really probably closer to a medium ink line rather than a fine. It starts writing very easily and smoothly and the writing quality easily matches that of my more expensive fountain pen.The only difficulty I had with this pen was in getting the ink flow started. I used one of the furnished cartridges and followed the installation instructions exactly. Insert the cartridge, push it in firmly, place the pen upright in a glass with the nib down and leave it for five minutes. Then gently draw circles to get the ink flowing. I did this exactly as instructed, and drew circle after circle with no ink flow. So I took the pen apart and while installed gave the ink cartridge a few good squeezes, put the pen back together and into the glass nib down for another two minutes. Success! This did the trick, and the pen writes great. I would have deducted one half of a star but Amazon has no such rating. I would buy this pen again.
